Physical Education Adaptations for Students With Disabilities

The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) states that physical education is a required service for children and youth between the ages of 3 and 21 who qualify for special education services because of a specific disability or developmental delay. This article is especially helpful for educators, and describes what physical education means for students with disabilities as it relates to FAPE and IEPs, and gives instructional strategies on implementing adaptions for these students.
