Improving Outcomes for Students with Disabilities

The Unites States Department of Education prodides public education through a combination of traditional school districts and charter schools. Charter schools are autonomous public schools of choice, which are granted the opportunity to operate by entities referred to as authorizers—including state departments of education, local school districts, independent charter boards, and institutions of higher education. In this article, the authors discuss how collaboration between charter schools and traditional public school districts benefits students with disabilities.
