Terrell Thompson’s Audio Description Talk at CSUN 2017 Conference

Audio description ensures visual content is accessible to people who can't see it. When program audio does not fully disseminate ample information, a supplemental audio track must be provided that includes brief description of the visual content.  Specifically, the purpose of Mr. Thompson’s presentation spoke about how organizations with many videos might meet Success Criterion 1.2.5 of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 -- providing people who are blind or visually impaired access to the visual information in a synchronized media presentation. This blog post shows the importance of providing a combination of supplemental audio tracks and text-based audio description.
