National Institutes of Health Research Plan on Rehabilitation

One in five Americans experiences a disability that affects their mobility, cognitive function, sensory or communication ability. Because of this, rehabilitation strategies must optimize function, reduce disability, and research this public health challenge. This link leads to an academic article from the National Institute of Health (NIH) that provides a set of priorities to guide the Research Plan on Rehabilitation over the next five years. The plan was developed with input from multiple institutes and centers within the NIH, the National Advisory Board for Medical Rehabilitation Research, and the public. This article provides a justification for this research plan, an outline of its development, and a listing of six priority areas for research.
