Early Childhood Professional Development Activity: Get Them Talking

Traditionally much of the language offered to young and beginning AAC communicators has been comprised of nouns and descriptive words. This professional development activity can be used to guide parents and professionals through the use of two different activity boards. One board is comprised of words commonly used on AAC devices (nouns) and one is comprised of the words most frequently used by typically developing toddlers. There is a difference in the quality and quantity of what the user of the board can say giving activity participants an experience that they can then talk about.
