What is Assistive Technology and How Can it Help My Child? Tips for Parents

This two page guide introduces parents to what assistive technology is and gives a brief overview of the skills assistive technology can help young children develop. Skills detailed include: daily routines and activities, social skills and behavior, sensory, fine motor skills, literacy skills, communication, and computer access. Tips are also provided on starting discussions with professionals about using assistive technology with your child.
