Promises to Keep: Transforming Educator Preparation to Better Serve a Diverse Range of Learners

Prepared by the CEEDAR/CCSSO Policy Framing Working Group, this document focuses on the need for systemic changes in the preparation of future educators to address persistent achievement gap. To support all learners, the Working Group recommends that state and local educational agencies take the following steps: 1) better definition of required knowledge and skills for all educators that addresses the academic needs of all students; 2) access to meaningful practical experiences that exposes future teachers to differentiated core instruction; and 3) students outcomes, including students with disabilities, are part of the teacher evaluation system.
