Instructional Strategy Guide: Drafting

During drafting, students develop a more cohesive text, explain and elaborate their ideas, and explore a topic, guided by purpose, genre, and content area. All students benefit from using word processing and other tech tools while drafting. To build strong writing skills amongst your students across content areas, explicitly teach and model strategies. As you differentiate your ongoing assessment and feedback, use strategies to help students self-assess their writing. View this slideshow for an introduction to teaching the strategy of Drafting.
