Perkins Scout

Designed by the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts, Perkins Scout is a free database of information and resources specifically for users who have visual impairments or blindness. According to the Perkins School website, the goal is for Scout to become “a centralized hub providing the most reliable and authoritative information about all aspects of living with blindness and visual impairments.” Perkins Scout is well on the way to achieving this goal, and currently offers information in 19 categories relating to living with blindness, including: Famous People with Blindness or Visual Impairment, Assistive Technology, Recreation, Transition, and Etiquette (a good refresher for sighted people).
